Day #9: Give Prayer For Others

This afternoon, our family made a list of people to pray for. Our 4-year-old suggested we pray for "our family," for the "poor," and for the "kids who are sick." Our 2-year-old said we should pray for "babies." She loves babies. We all took turns praying - for the kids and babies...for some families that […]

Day #8: Give Cookies to a Neighbor

This afternoon our oldest daughter and Stephanie made chocolate chip/peanut butter cookies for our next door neighbors. Meanwhile, I took our youngest on a walk and we talked to quite a few people who live here at the campground in the winter - "Winter Texans." When we returned, both girls colored pictures. Our 4-year-old is […]

Day #7: Give to a Food Bank

Today, we filled a bag with pasta, buttermilk pancake mix, and popcorn seeds - and took it to a local food bank. We also compiled a few things we are no longer using (an extra pillow, a skirt, a shirt, and some tupperware). Community Resource and Food Pantry (here in Canyon Lake, TX) runs a […]

Day #6: Give Through Social Media

Awhile back a company sent us some bags for PR purposes. One of them was the Switch Messenger laptop bag by Brenthaven, valued at $100. We never ended up using the bag and now we are driving around the country with it serving no purpose. We want to give the bag to someone who will […]

Day #5: Give To The Hungry

After spending over 5 hours on-the-road, we pulled off Interstate 10 early this evening and stopped at a red light. We were in the far left turning lane. Just a couple of feet from my window was a man holding a piece of cardboard that read, "Broke and Hungry." The light turned green. I was […]

El Paso - "the first step" to a great adventure

"I don't know how to say it because it doesn't make sense," Tim looked over at me as we pulled out of El Paso yesterday morning, "but...I'm sort of glad we broke down." We drove into a city of strangers...and left with a caravan of friends. We arrived with a big scare...and ended with stronger […]

Day #4: Give with Kiva

The wind chill outside is -1 degrees fahrenheit here in Fort Stockton, TX (we made it out of Walmart!). It is COLD. We are stuck indoors. Stephanie and I didn't want the weather to keep us from doing something so we made our way to Kiva.com, a microfinance website. We had a gift card and we decided […]

Day #3: Give to a grocery store cashier

She was young, her dark hair in a ponytail, a gentle smile on her lips. She reached down instinctively to her small, but obviously burgeoning belly. "When are you due?" I asked as I put a few breakfast items on the Walmart checkout counter. "Next month," she glowed, reaching out to give my one-and-a-half year […]

Day #2: Give Thanks

We're (still) at Walmart. Our 5th wheel is here, but our truck is not. A tow truck came and pulled it away to a local Ford dealer. A friend of a friend of a friend works there. We're hoping the mechanic can look at it first thing in the morning. Meanwhile, here at the 5th […]

Day #1: Give Anyway

Hi from the Walmart parking lot in El Paso, Texas. (We're stranded here). (For real). This is how it went down: We left Tucson late this morning, with tearful goodbyes and a huge bag of snacks. Our plan was to drive to a campground in El Paso and stay the night on our way to […]

Your Questions...ANSWERED

We're still in Tucson, Arizona. Our truck and trailer are ready. Our to-do is list is significantly shorter than it once was. Our hands and our hearts are ready for the adventure ahead. BUT - we still have a few small matters to attend to (most notably, finding a tenant for our house). As we wait, […]

Do Small Things.

Sometimes a twinge of fear comes up out of nowhere. We'll wonder, "What do we REALLY have to give? Will we be able to do big things with two small children by our side?" But then we are reminded... We don't need to do BIG things. We need to "do small things with great love." […]

House For Rent - Vail, AZ

Stephanie and I have been scratching things off of our to-do list each day. We only have a few more things left to take care of before we hit the interstate eastbound for San Antonio. One of the most pressing things we would like to scratch off before we go is renting our house. You may […]

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.

Our Pledge

We hereby pledge:

- To spend intimate, quantity time with our family.
- To actively help the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the helpless.
- To value, protect, and advocate for children.
- To de-emphasize the importance of “stuff” in our lives.
- To bring publicity to good causes and good people.
- To live with intentionality, as if this year was our very last.
- To observe the needs in our country/community – and then do something about them.
- To give – every day.
