the adventure continues in Vail, AZ

This past month we sold our fifth wheel RV and moved back into our house in Vail, AZ. Our 20,000 miles around the country taught us a lot of things - one of which is gratitude. The more miles we put on, the more we appreciated the beautiful sunshine of southern AZ and the familiarity of friendship. […]

Selling The RV

Traveling fulltime forces a person to experience an unprecedented amount of change. "Consistent," "regular," and "predictable" are a few words that were absent from our vocabulary this year. We've know an evolving lifestyle that has changed who we are. Change is a positive thing. It provides new perspective and increased potential, but today we long to once again be settled. To live in the […]

4 Traits of Effective Non-Profits

To-date, our family has visited, toured, and/or volunteered with over 40 non-profits. We plan to continue to serve in similar capacities in the coming 5 months, but...at a slower pace. These four things seem to be characteristic of the more impressive organizations we visited. 1) Effective organizations hire the right people. Nearly every CEO and executive […]

Day #148: Give a Birthday Present To a Stranger

We ate at a restaurant today for lunch. At the table next to ours sat a young man and his mother. They were both outgoing and struck up a conversation with us. It turns out, the mom had brought her son there for his 22nd birthday.  He had a cognitive disability and was excited to […]

Day #147: Give Your Host a Gift

One of our favorite things we get to do as we travel is spend time with friends. This evening we had dinner at some friends' house in New Jersey. Our girls had a blast playing with their two similar aged boys. Before we arrived at their house, we stopped by Panera Bread and picked up some […]

Day #146: Give a Gift for a Newborn

Stephanie's brother and sister in-law just had their first baby. It's a boy! They live in Oregon so we are looking forward to meeting the little guy later this year. To say "congratulations," we wrote them a letter and included a gift card. We wish we were nearby and could bring them a few meals. That was […]

Day #145: Give a Birthday Card

October 2 is our World Vision sponsored child's birthday. He lives in Zimbabwe so it takes the mail a bit longer to get to him. World Vision always sends us a pre-made birthday card that we are invited to sign and mail back. The card is then delivered to our sponsored child for his birthday. In addition to signing […]

Day #144: Give with The Clinic in Phoenixville, PA

Today, the four of us visited a medical facility that provides "quality health care to the uninsured." It looked just like any other doctor's office, but one thing was different - it is free! The Clinic was founded in 2002 with a goal to provide necessary medical treatment to people that do not have health insurance. Patients […]

Day #143: Give to Annie

Congratulations to Annie from OR - this week’s featured giver and prize winner (gift certificate for Four at The Old Spaghetti Factory). Annie’s story: I don’t necessarily like to say what “I” give. I feel very privileged that I was given the vision and the passion to bless families who have babies born too early to […]

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.

Our Pledge

We hereby pledge:

- To spend intimate, quantity time with our family.
- To actively help the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the helpless.
- To value, protect, and advocate for children.
- To de-emphasize the importance of “stuff” in our lives.
- To bring publicity to good causes and good people.
- To live with intentionality, as if this year was our very last.
- To observe the needs in our country/community – and then do something about them.
- To give – every day.
