*Update* (on everything) 1

Here's an update:

  • Our House is FOR SALE and FOR RENT (as of this weekend). May the best buyer or renter "win"! Our house is a 3-bedroom, 2-bath - built in 2005. Gorgeous mountain views. Landscaped backyard. Spacious floor-plan that is perfect for entertaining. Great school district.
  • We SOLD our Jeep and Tim's Honda CRF 450X. Our leather couches, dining room table set, beds, and dressers are all on Craigslist. Plus, we've given away (or sold) BAGS of clothes, toys, shoes, and electronics.
  • We are searching, searching, searching for an RV (every day!). Our top priorities are safety, price, and storage. Tonight we looked at 2 Class A's in Marana - a 1991 and a 1992 (whoa - that's OLD - we KNOW). (BUT - it might work). We're also still considering Class C's and Fifth Wheels.
  • The plan is to leave in January and head up the Coast (CA, OR, & WA) - stopping along the way to partner with (still-to-be-determined) non-profits, groups, and individuals who are creating positive change in their communities. What a way to ring in the New Year, right?

What questions do you have for us (if any)?

  1. Wow, what an advernturous spirit! I pray everything goes smoothly and your purpose becomes clear each day. :) Love and hugs to you with many blessings!!!

  2. Are you going to come to Tacoma, WA area? I hope so! Let me know if you do stop there, we live in Puyallup (just east of Tacoma) and would love to open up our home to you guys!

  3. Just a consideration if you're looking at older models, there are many campgrounds out there that don't let you in if your rig is not 15 years or younger. Of course it's still doable, just as long as you realize that an older one than that will limit your choices of campgrounds.

If you're still interested in 5th wheels (it really is safer for the kids!) we'll be moving out of ours Nov 1st. We'd give you the mini-bunk beds for free-they fit perfectly in here! Also willing to drop our asking price....email me if you are interested in details.

Oh, and we belong to Passport America for campgrounds and a museum with reciprocal privileges for both ACM (children's museums) and ASTC (science centers) museums. We had an AZA zoo membership for awhile but it tended to be the smaller, out of major metro area zoos that participated, so we didn't feel like it was worthwhile. With the ASTC museums on the other hand, almost all the larger museums participated in the reciprocal program so that was money very well spent. You can see the lists of museums here http://www.childrensmuseums.org/visit/reciprocal.htm

    1. Hello Kim! Thank you (as always) for your advice and encouragement. It's so helpful to hear from other families who have already lived on-the-road.

Although we have looked at some early 90s models, we will likely go with something a little newer (1995-2005+).

Your Fifth Wheel is absolutely beautiful (and bunk beds would be perfect!), but I'm not sure it's in our price range. I'll e-mail you in a week or so if we have an interest.

      Thanks again!

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.
